An unexpected joy of the trip was the astounding street art in Valparaíso. The streets were bursting with color, and interesting designs. Wandering through the winding hills and narrow alleys, we came across massive murals, hidden stencils, and entire staircases transformed into vibrant works of art.

It gave a personality to a city that otherwise would have been a lot less exciting.

The “We Are Not Hippies, We Are Happies” art on the piano steps is one of the most iconic pieces of street art in Valparaíso. Located along one of the city’s many winding, mural-covered staircases, it is symbolic of the spirit behind the art scene in the city.
